Shopping Recreation Restaurants Medical Facilities Hotels GovernmentSt Augustine is located in St Johns County just south of Jacksonville, Florida. On the east it is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and to the west, the St Johns River. The primary traveling access is via the I95 Interstate which runs north to south. Access by air is achieved via Jacksonville International and the Orlando International airports. There is also an executive airport in St Augustine. By boat St Augustine is on the Intracoastal waterway.
The county has a mixture of rural, suburban and city residences. The rural areas include agricultural farms as well as livestock farms. Suburban and city residences include single family, multi-family, condos and townhomes. Downtown St Augustine has historical districts with homes dating back to the 1700's. There are county and state parks in a number of areas within the county.
Shopping
The primary shopping area is along US1 South just south of downtown. This area has department stores, auto dealers and various small businesses serving the community. This includes J C Penny, Bealls, Belk, Target, Walmart, Home Depot, K-Mart and Marshalls. There are strip shopping centers on A1A serving the residents on Anastasia Island. Off I95 is the Outlet malls with all the popular factory outlet stores. Just over the county line to the north is a major shopping mall.
Recreation
The recreational choices in St Augustine and St Johns County are considerable. From the ocean beaches to the Intracoastal and St Johns River there is bathing, fishing and boating options galore. There are state and local parks to explore as well any many different athletic fields. Many communities have swimming pools as well as jogging and hiking trails. Golf is a major theme throughout the county with the many golf communities and major golf course such as the World Golf Village.

Whether it be fast food or fining dining one has many choices in St Augustine. There are restaurants on the water and many with outside cafe tables. With a tourist economy St Augustine's restaurants will satisfy the most discriminating taste.
Medical Facilities
St Augustine has a community hospital, Flagler General, at the intersection of cr312 and US1. In the same area are the offices number of specialty medical specialists. There are other medical offices around the county. North of St Augustine is the new Baptist South Hospital. Immediately north of St Johns County in Duval County there are several medical complexes including Shands and the Mayo Clinic.

St Augustine is a tourist destination city. As the oldest city in North America the city attracts two million visitors annually. Many people vacation here to enjoying our beautiful beaches and touring through the historic old city.
